Our Accounting division is staffed by experts in tax strategy, planning and business structures. Our staff are also trained in all major packages including MYOB, Quickbooks, Xero, Banklink and Cashflow Manager. We can design, install and configure any accounting system you require.

Matthew White


Managing Director

Matthew founded the firm in June 1997. He has a degree in Accountancy from the University of South Australia and was accepted into the Honours program but declined to commence his career. In 1995 Matthew completed his Chartered Accountancy qualification with Certificates of Merit in Taxation and Ethics (top 5% in Australia).

Matthew is also an Associate of the Taxation Institute of Australia, a Registered Tax Agent with the ATO, an Accredited MFAA mortgage/finance consultant, a Member of the Outsource Financial group and an accredited Self Managed Super Fund Advisor.

He has over 22 years experience as an accountant, business and tax advisor and over 8 years experience as a registered mortgage broker.

As Business Initiatives has grown, Matthew has shifted his focus to a client advisory role and excels in the areas of tax planning and minimisation, business and residential financing, establishment and administration of self managed superannuation funds, business valuations, business purchases and sales, business analysis, cash flow budgeting and KPIs, business planning, coaching and review, systems development, business start-up and capital raising, succession and estate planning, business benchmarking.

Matthew enjoys tennis, golf, wakeboarding, gym, collecting and restoring classic cars, travel and the noble pursuit of wine tasting and appreciation.

Caitlin Bergamasco


Office Manager

Caitlin started working for Business Initiatives in August 2011 as our receptionist.

Caitlin has completed year 12 at King’s Baptist Grammar School in 2009; and continued her studies in 2010 achieving Certificate III Business Administration and has now achieved a Diploma in Business Administration at Business Initiatives in 2013.

She has great enthusiasm about helping others and enjoys the time she has with her family, partner and friends.

Gurpreet Kaur


Assistant Manager / Accountant

Gurpreet starting working with Business Initiatives in October 2010 as a Finance Assistant and has since moved into Accounting & Tax and now an Assistant Manager. Gurpreet has studied at Flinders University and had completed a degree in Bachelor of Commerce in 2009 and Masters of Accounting (advance) in late 2012. Gurpreet has now commenced further qualifications and is completing the CPA program.

Gurpreet was born in New Zealand and raised in South Australia. She is a country girl by heart, having lived in Renmark for most her childhood. After completing year 12, she moved to Adelaide to study at university.

Her hobbies include going to the movies, travelling, shopping, spending time with family and relaxation time.

Asad Ansari


Accountant

Asad joined the firm in May 2008. He was born in Pakistan and in 2003 migrated to Australia to pursue his education with the University of South Australia. Asad has a Degree in Commerce & Finance which he completed in 2006.

Since graduating, Asad has been working in public practice specialising in accounting, taxation and audit work.

Asad has commenced the CPA program. He is also doing an MBA at the University of Adelaide. His long term goals are to be a Certified Practicing Accountant providing clients with valuable advice on how to achieve the best outcome in regards to taxation. He also takes great interest in setting up new business structures, analysing on-going business performances and superannuation.

In his spare time, Asad enjoys spending time with his 1 year old daughter.

Michael Myles


Accountant

Michael Myles began working at Business Initiatives in May 2014 as a trainee Accountant.
Michael completed year 12, at Golden Grove High School in 2012. He has since continued his studying completing Certificate III of Accounting in 2013 at Tafe SA Tea Tree Gully. He is currently working towards his Advance Diploma. Michael is very keen to gain extensive knowledge and experience while working at Business Initiatives, his long term goal is to become CPA accredited.
Michael has a deep passion for motorsport and soccer. He has been part of Modbury Vista Soccer Club for 14 years.

Laura Glennie


Finance Manager

Laura has been working with Business Initiatives since January 2009. Laura started out working in reception, and has since moved into a finance role.

She is your go-to girl for all finance needs. No loan is too big or small.

Laura has a passion for photography, art and drawing. Apart from the mandatory socialising with friends, Laura loves listening to music.

Chris Sedgmen


Property Investment Advisor

Chris Sedgmen is our Property Investment Advisor. He takes our clients through the whole process of investing in property successfully by providing tailored coaching support and unbiased advice.

Chris has now worked in the Property and Finance industries for over 8 years as a Property Investor Advisor, Coach/ Mentor and Mortgage Broker. He has successfully assisted hundreds of clients across Australia to build successful and sustainable property portfolios.

Chris’s qualifications include successful completion of the Qualified Property Investment Advisor (QPIA) qualification and a Diploma in Financial Services (Mortgage Broking). He is  accredited with 23 lenders.

Michael Farmer


Financial Planner

Michael joined Business Initiatives in August 2016. He is a Certified Financial Planner and has been helping his clients improve their financial position since 2003.

Michael has experience in all areas of financial planning and has specialized in pre-retirement planning, minimising tax and growing the wealth that his clients have worked hard to achieve. Michael has extensive knowledge in the areas of superannuation including SMSF’s, investments, personal insurances and business succession planning, all that can be applied to a clients’ benefit.

He has been involved with the Financial Planning Association having served as chairperson of the SA Chapter, promoting the Financial Planning profession and the value of obtaining financial advice. In April 2014 the FPA bestowed Upon Michael a Distinguished Service Award for his services to the Financial Planning profession.

Michael is a family man with a partner and 2 wonderful children. An Adelaide boy at heart, he enjoys attending football, cricket and the arts while socialising with friends.

Courtney Potts


Receptionist

Courtney started working for Business Initiatives in June 2011 as our receptionist.

She completed year 12 at St Mary’s College in 2010. In 2011 she completed her Certificate III in Business Administration and went on to get her Diploma in Business Administration in 2012.

She enjoys cooking, shopping, eating chocolate and values time spent with her family, partner and friends.
