What is PPSR?

The Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR)

Did you know: A retention of title clause on your invoice that states that goods you supply to a customer remain yours until your invoice is paid in full DOES NOT protect you on your own?

There are many people unaware of the PPSR even though it came into effect in 2012. It is a national online database that lists people’s ownership interests in anything of value (excluding land, buildings and fixtures).

It is useful for many things. For example, if you hire, rent or lease out goods for more than two years you should register these items on the PPSR. If you buy and sell valuable second-hand assets, you need to ensure they are listed as yours on the PPSR.
